We are excited to announce our latest release 🥳

This update introduces a complete revamp of our charts component, designed to help you find the most interesting data in seconds. We have also significantly expanded our Observations feature to detect a wide range of common and complex connectivity issues.

🚀 Major Improvements

A Smarter Way to View Charts 📊

The biggest change in this release is the complete revamping of our charts component. We have redesigned the legend to group series per theme, allowing you to quickly find and focus on the most interesting part of the data you're after.

Series grouped by theme

The end result? More focus with no information overload

All charts (Streams, Channels, and Pairs) now feature several themes:

  • Latency
  • Bytes
  • Packets
  • Quality
  • Performance
  • ...plus other themes specific to audio or video

Within each theme, the series are grouped by category. This structure lets you see what's happening in a heartbeat. We've also ensured you'll never lose a series, as we now select the most appropriate series by default.

Additionally, we have prepared our charts to be ready for L4S statistics. These statistics, which concern the ability to track congestion, are currently in implementation in browsers and should be coming soon.

New Connectivity and TURN Observations 🔍

We have continued to expand our Observations, this time with a strong focus on connectivity. These new additions will help you diagnose a number of difficult network issues.

We can now detect:

  • Symmetric NAT
  • Networks where UDP is blocked
  • When too many network interfaces are in use

Detection of handovers

We also added a host of observations for TURN, including:

  • Detection of any TURN errors reported
  • The usage of TURN TCP and TLS, which can impact performance on degraded networks
  • Badly configured TURN servers that return private IP addresses

This means it will now take you considerably less time figuring out connectivity issues.

💡 Observations are available only in paid plans

✨ Other Improvements

Audio MOS Aggregation

For audio IN/OUT, we have added the aggregation of the MOS (Mean Opinion Score) to our overview page. This main metric allows you to quickly qualify how good or bad an audio session was. Don't forget that the MOS is also part of the Performance metrics that can be displayed in charts, so you can see the evolution of the MOS during the call.

Data Retention Policy

Starting with this release, we will begin applying our retention policy. This means that any of your files older than our retention period will be removed. We have added a banner and a badge to help you detect these files. Please download them if you still need them. You can always upload them again, and don't forget that rtcStats is improving constantly, so we have more and more power to analyze your files.

We're confident that these new features and improvements will help you diagnose and resolve WebRTC issues more effectively. We're always eager to hear your feedback, so please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know what you think of the new release.
